Went for my bi-monthly facial today. The steamer wasn't co-operating. Hence, Jasmine used the traditional method as an alternative - Hot Towel.
According to Jasmine, this method was being used before the invention of steamer. The latter was more frequently used for the convenience of the beautician, and less comfortable to their hands.
However, she still used it on some of her clients with sensitive skin or severe acne. Reason being the hot towel method is supposedly less harsh to their skin.
Didn't know that such traditional method exist. I suppose the newer generation of beautician wouldn't know this kind of method. Wonder what they will do if their steamer breaks down =X
On the other hand, not many young beautician has one-person private salon like Jasmine. There certainly would be more than enough backup steamers to cater for the need. Guess the traditional method will just die off gradually ...
