Another brilliant catastrophic movie by the Hollywood. As usual, there would be touching scenes with family bondings, selfless love of mankind and all. This time round, the main focus was on a father (Jack Hall), a climatologist who had a misunderstanding with his son, just before sending him to Manhattan for a competition for the smartest students. Imagine how much the father would have regretted if his son didn't survive the catastrophe.
Was quite disturbed by ppl being frozen instantly, but guess it's really what would have happen if there's an ice age. No wonder the Dinosaurs couldn't survive. There's absolutely no shelters to keep themselves warm. But I seriously wonder if the gas stove & flame will continue burning at that kind of temperature -150 degree. Jeez!
On the other hand, Sam & his friends were pretty lucky to have been stranded in the public library, where there's a nice fireplace and they could burn the books to keep themselves warm. Guess the librarians were devastated with the lost :P Wonder why they didn't burn the wooden chairs and tables too. And so coincidental that a Russian ship came drifting in and stopped next to them after the tides, thus providing them medication & food.
The most impressive graphics would be the tornado and the freezing waves. Overall, will give the movie 6/10.
