Woke up at 4.15am and was ready by 5am. Took a cab to pick up Irene before proceeding to the airport and reached at about 5.30am.
Val was late. Hence, me & Irene idled around, took pictures & weighed our luggage for fun to kill time while waiting for Val.
Val reached at almost 6am and we proceed to check in our luggage. To our horror, was told that Irene was refused to board the plane becoz her passport expiry is less than 6 mths! Nothing was said when we booked the trip months ago! WTF!
No matter how hard we pleaded with the staff, all was in vain. Was told that even if they allow Irene to board, the Thailand immigration will refuse to let her enter. On top of that, Jetstar will have to pay a fine or something. Plus, they'll have to sent her back.
We were advised to postpone her trip. Went with Irene to choose a date for our next Bangkok trip. The staff wasn't very helpful. Irene was asked to top-up for postponing and the amount ended up to $100+++! That amount could let us book ANOTHER TRIP ourselves! Unfortunately, Irene didn't get any travel insurance, and couldn't get a claim directly. Hence, told Irene to try write in and get a refund.
It was quite late, Val & myself had to run to the gate. We proceeded to board the plane with a heavy heart. What a way to start a trip! >.<
