It was another early breaky. Traffic was heavy on the way to Pompeii. We were finally on a decent coach with a decent driver - Ciro. Dario tried some all-time-favourite ice breakers, introducing ourselves. I forgot like half the names at the end of the introduction.
In between, we had a toilet break at Autogrill & another short break for lunch at a Hotel Suisse. Lunch cost €10 for a pizza/pasta + a drink (coke/water). 4 of us only ordered 2 sets (1 pizza, 1 spaghetti & 2 cokes). We simply didn't feel like having anything more than that!
Pompeii was amazing. We witness the intelligence of Ancient Romans. The expressive local tour guide added colors to everything. There, we discovered the 1st zebra-crossing stove, shops, brothel, spa & many others. The whole city of Pompeii was said to have been buried entirely by the ash of the Volcano. The people were killed by the poisonous gas erupted and died before being buried.
Jobs of the archeologist weren't easy as they can only work in certain months of the year, due to the impact on the climate on the buried. The guide told us that in order to preserve the form of the dead, they had to poke a tiny hole through the whole piece when discover, pour down the plaster to get the form of the dead bodies before removing the ashes. Else, the decomposed dead would have lost their form or something like that.
The €11 ticket was definitely worthwhile.
