Bravo Italy – [ROME] – Vatican

Being the "Sister hotel", breaky in Giotto is similar to that of Beethoven. The quantity I ate was similar too. Proceed to the Vatican right after that. Heard that Vatican is a "country" that rules by itself and had been wondering about the place ever since.

It's supposed to be a free-&-ez day. Dario brought everyone to take a bus down to Vatican City and left. Heard that it's supposed to be his off-day. o.O

The guided tour cost €36. Couldn't really remember the name of the local tour guide (I m bad at remembering names. URGH!), but she's really good. We didn't have any problem with her accent. She's actually from USA but fell in love with ROME.

Works by Michael Angelo was truly amazing. Pictures on postcards, books or video can never be compared to the real thing. Learnt that he couldn't really paint right from the start, as his main focus was on sculptors. In fact, he was forced to and became really unhappy, having to paint the Chapel 14. The result of working for 4 years (10++hrs a day) in the dark room, with plasters raining down on him and awkward back-bending postures had ruined his health totally. All he could do to take out on his resentment was to include his unhappy face in some of his artwork.

Passed by a postbox and someone suggested to send back postcards to ourselves. We all did. Wanted to send another but there wasn't time for me to get more stamps as there was a Q. Jo reassured that there will be other opportunities to do so. Oh well.

Had our lunch at a "Caffe san Pietro". Suddenly felt very stoned as we entered the air-conditioned restaurant, hence let the gals decide on our lunch. Was glad HJ grabbed the best tasting tiramisu which I ever had in my life. Everything amounted to about €10.80 per person. Took a train down ourselves to our next destination – the Colosseo.
